|Peas are cool-season crops and the seeds don't mind germinating in cold soils. If yours aren't coming up, there's a possibility that the soil is too wet and they're rotting before they can sprout. Make sure your soil has some organic matter to help fluff it up. Sometimes birds (especially robins and crows) discover the pea seeds and steal them before they've sprouted. Try covering the rows of peas with chicken wire until the plants sprout, to keep birds from raiding the garden plot.
