I would like to know the best variety of "horseradish" to grow in my area.

Alas, horseradish is horseradish (Armoracia rusticana). It's a hardy perennial that can easily take over a garden, so consider growing horseradish in bottomless containers that you sink into the garden plot. Horseradish likes deep soil; add some compost to make the roots grow long and thick.
