Many years ago I bought Monrovia's Passiflora pfordtii. I read that it will never produce fruits, and in fact it never did. But today I was amazed to see two passion fruits hanging on the tree. If you give me your address, I'll send you some pictures I made today.
- can Passiflora pfordtii produce fruits, and if not, what variety was that?
- are they edible?

Passiflora pfordtii produces sterile flowers so they never set fruit. At least they're not supposed to set fruit! 'pfordtii' is a hybrid between Passiflora alata and Passiflora caerulea, so perhaps your plant is reverting back. In any event, the fruit is edible. I think it would be interesting to plant the seeds and see what they produce!

Best wishes with your passionflower!
