|What kind of soil should I use for growing vegetables in a container garden?
|It's always best to use a potting soil mix for containers. If you use regular garden soil, it has a tendancy to become compacted, making root penetration difficult. Garden soil can also stay too soggy or dry out too quickly when used in containers. Purchase some soil-less potting soil, or make your own by mixing equal parts of compost (or peat moss), garden soil (or sand), and perlite or vermiculite. The result should be light, loose, and full of nutrients.
