|I recently purchased two persimmon trees grown by Monrovia. The tags state that they are a FUYU Japanese Persimmon Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu' (Jiro type)
My question is: are my trees Fuyus or Jiros? These are two different cultivars according to all the horiticultural information I can find on Japanese persimmons.
|Sorry for the confusion. The term "Jiro type" simply means the fruit is non-astringent. Your trees are Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu', and will bear abundant, sweet fruit.|
