I am currently living in Mexico(for the winter) and my maid decided to clean all the broad leaf plants with mayonaise. It sure made the leaves bright and shiney, but will that harm the plants.
Thanks for your information.

Mayonaise isn't the best product to use on your houseplants. It tends to clog the natural openings in the leaves, preventing air exchange. The best way to clean houseplant leaves is to put the plants in the shower and shower them with tepid water. This will rinse off any dust and the leaves will regain their natural shine. What you might try doing is washing the residual mayonaise off the leaves with a mild soap solution (try a few drops of Dawn dish soap in a bowl of tepid water). Use a soft rag and carefully clean each leaf, then gently wash each leaf off with fresh water.

Best wishes with your houseplants!
