I need to plant some evergreens along my backyard fence to provide
a privacy screen. The area I live in, I believe is zone 8.
The tree would need to be fast growing and be about 25' height
and 5-8' wide at maturity.
Any suggestions on which ones would fit the bill? Thanks in advance.

Several shrubs are suitable, both broadleaf evergreen such as laurel, and needled evergreen such as arborvitae. Photinia is always a good choice. It's fast growing and the new leaves are red in spring, changing to green when mature. Other suggestions include Abelia, Leyland cypress, Holly, Myrica californica (Pacific wax myrtle), and Viburnum.
