According to Michael Dirr's Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, softwood cuttings are easy if taken in late July using a 1000 ppm IBA quick dip and stuck into peat:perlite, then kept under mist. He had 100 per cent rooting in six weeks with this method. You will find additional detailed directions on rooting softwood cuttings at the following web sites. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.
