|I'm planning to grow tomatoes, peppers, and herbs (rosemary, basil, cilantro, parsley, and oregano) in large pots. How do each of these need to be fertilized? Also, will these plants do well in full sun or partial sun in hot Texas summers?|
I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.
With all of those plants you can either put a slow release fertilizer such as Osmocote in the pots for gradual feeding over several months or use a soluble product such as Miracle Gro, Peters, or Schultz's following the label rate. Tomatoes and peppers will respond to feeding at a moderate rate while the herbs will do best with a lighter rate of fertilizing.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
