|I have a lawn that is a year and a half old (new home) and I am afraid that the back yard has been completely taken over by weeds. My husband choose to allow the lawn company to treat the front yard only! How do I know if there is grass among the weeds? Also how do I kill all the weeds and try to start over? I am talking about Bermuda grass by the way.|
I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.
I don't know how to tell you in text form how to tell the lawn from the many broadleaf and grassy weeds that might be in your lawn. The best way to revamp the area is to use a product containing glyphosate (Roundup is one brand) in early April once everything is growing very well. Then wait about a week for it to work and if there are any escapes treat again. Take care to apply only enough to barely wet the weeds and don't get any on desirable plants or it can kill them too.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
