|We bought 2 large pink jasmine on trellises at the Marin Home Depot. They are on a balcony with a filtered Southern exposure. They have developed lovely white blooms, but the blooms are turning brown, even though new white blooms are coming in elsewhere. I read on the web that it might have a fungus if the blooms are turning brown - b/c they should not turn brown. Help!|
|The blooms should not turn brown and doing so may indicate a fungus but in this case I think it's simply a symptom of stress. Your plants came from a nursery or greenhouse where the growing conditions were perfect. Now that you've taken them home and installed them on your balcony, the light conditions and exposure to breezes may very well be different. Give your jasmines a few weeks to acclimate to their new homes before becoming too concerned with their behavior. As long as the plants are putting out new growth and developing new flower buds, they are healthy.
Best wishes with your balcony garden!
