Shade flowers - Knowledgebase Question

Can you please recommend some flowers that thrive in shade? I don't really want ground cover but if that is all that is available then I guess it would be fine. I am really looking for flowers though. All I can find is partial shade flowers. Please help!! Thanks, Nikki

In deep shade you are going to probably need to choose colorful foliage such as with Caladiums. In fairly bright shade impatiens are great but will need frequent watering. Wishbone flower (torenia) is also a good choice. Hidden ginger is a large plant but does do great in lots of shade. In winter try cyclamen and dusty miller as well as pansies if the shade if fairly bright.
