This winter Fresno had many days freezing temps. I own dwarfs, red and green bananas. The dwarfs have many 3' pups off the original tree and I have cut one back and the center is brown and fleshy - can these be saved? 2. The reds are barely growing 3. The Big Green has a large, I would say Flower ball growing sideways - do I cut this, it is beginning to look like a flower, but will the plant grow this way or follow the sun. I have looked at all other questions and none I have seen really answer all these. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I'd cut away any winter damaged plant parts. Banana trees can be cut to ground level and they will resprout in the spring. If the pups have brown centers that are mushy, they will eventually die. You can remove them now or allow them to wither away on their own. Leave the growth on the big green one. If it is a flower, you'll get bananas. Once you cut them off, the plant will grow upright. Hope this answers all your questions! |
