Hi,, I have some dahlias winterizing in the basement and I'd like to pot them up early. When should I do this? I would then keep the pots in a cool bedroom until about May 2 0. I am in zone 5.

Also, when can I plant some cannas that I have in the basement, outdoors? and how deep>? I really appreciate your help. Dorian G.

You can pot up tender bulbs from about mid-March through April. Plant cannas, dahlias and other tender bulbs in the garden about 2 weeks before your last frost date. Space cannas about 18 inches apart and 4 inches deep. Good luck with your bulbs!
