How good are pH probes in telling the pH level of your lawn's soil? Is there a better way to test pH?

The soil probes will give you a ballpark reading, but not a precise one. If it's really important for you to know your soil's pH, you can have the soil tested through your local Cooperative Extension office. Testing is simple; take a clean bucket and use a trowel to dig about a cupful of soil from several locations in the yard. Mix the soil together and then take out a representative cupful. Place it in a soil test bag and deliver it to either a private lab or to your Extension office.

Best wishes with your landscape!
