What is causing the leaves on my rhodoendron to have brown spots? Some leaves are completely brown. |
Rhodies are prone to a fungal leaf spot so perhaps that's what's causing the problem. Fungal leaf spots are irregular in size and color; some have red-brown borders with silvery gray centers. The brown spots can spread and eventually overtake an entire leaf. Very small black dots (fruiting structures of the fungi) are sometimes visible in the center of the spot or in concentric rings. If this sounds like the damage on the leaves to your rhodies, remove and destroy the affected leaves and spray with a registered fungicide after flowering has finished. Repeat at 10-14 day intervals if weather is wet. Best wishes with your garden! |
