Can you tell me how to germinate English Ivy (Hedera helix) seed?

Hedera is normally propagated from cuttings, and it takes about four weeks for roots to form when cuttings are placed in moist perlite and given bottom heat. Seeds won't germinate reliably. One small ivy plant will provide you with enough soft growing tips to propagate a whole flat of plants!
