Taxus cuspidata or Japanese yew including "Captain" is winter hardy to USDA zone 4. These are quite winter hardy. Unfortunately the location data (city and state or zip code) did not come through in your question so I can't tell what hardiness zone you live in. Deer love to eat yews, so you should plan on protecting them if there are deer in your area.
