|What kind of pretty flowers are good for all year long ?|
|Among the most interesting and useful perennial plants are some of our Texas natives. Salvia greggii, Gaillardia, Coreopsis and Penstemon cobaea are notable examples. All of these will thrive in sunny locations having average, well-drained garden soils. Insects and diseases are rarely a problem since these plants are accustomed to the rigors of our climate and growing conditions.
You might also try Achillia, Allium, Aquilegia, Columbine, Artemesia, Aster, Canna, Shasta Daisy, Coreopsis, Crocosmia, cuphea, Dianthus, Echinacea, Gaillardia, Gladiolus, Hemerocalis, Iris, Phlox, Mexican Marigold, Thyme and Verbena.
Most perennials flowers for only 3-4 weeks so you'll want to plant several different types to have color in the garden all season long.
Best wishes with your garden!
