There are literally hundreds of plants from which to choose, but since you're new to gardening, you might benefit from visiting the Clemson University website (hgic.clemson.edu/plants) where you'll not only get step by step instructions for improving your soil, you'll get handy hints on plant selection for specific areas of your garden, and ideas about designing garden beds. Best wishes with your new garden!
