|I am in new home and need to know when the best time to start watering my grass. I have sod on the front lawn and red dirt in the back. I have noticed that my neighbors front lawn are greener and mines is still brown. The weather here has been cold lately in the low 40's|
You didn't mention which type of grass you have and various species respond at different rates to the warming temps. I would not worry about watering if the soil feels moist now in your area. When temps really begin to warm up you can start watering periodically. In the heat of summer once or twice a week is plenty often in full sun. Apply 1/2 to 1 inch when you water. A rain gage can guide you as to how long you must run a sprinkler to apply this much water.
