|I made an error when I bought my soil for my potted tomato plants and herbs. Instead of buying Miracle-Gro Potting mix I bought Miracle-Gro Organic Choice Garden Soil. It was only after I used the soil and planted all my seeds in their containers that I realized I had picked up the wrong bag of soil. I want to know if all is lost and my plants will not be able to grow with this soil or what I can do to fix this problem without having to buy all new seeds and soil.|
|Potting soil is generally recommended for use in containers because it drains well, holds just the right amount of moisture to make roots happy, and is light in weight. The garden soil mix you purchased will work alright in containers, but it will be harder to keep the soil moist. If the soil dries out, it will be difficult to rewet. You can leave your plants in the soil without problem as long as you monitor the soil moisture. If the soil begins to shrink away from the sides of the container, it indicates a need for a thorough soaking. As long as you're careful about watering, your plants will be just fine.
Hope you have a bountiful harvest!
