I have a bank (about 30' x 60')that is mostly weeds and moss that gets afternoon sun. I would like to plant some shrubs or possibly perennials. Can you advise?

This area is going to be somewhat challenging in that it is bound to be hot and dry during the summer in addition to being considered a full sun location. You might try low growing junipers, or perhaps a perennial such as moss phlox (Phlox subulata). You will need to weed and mulch in between the plants until they fill in and you will also need to water during dry spells until they become established. If the hill is very steep you may need to terrace it slightly to prevent it from eroding, or work in horizontal strips, rather than disturb the entire area at once. Your local nursery professional and/or county extension may have additional suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of the planting area and your overall design goals.
