I bought two small ponytail palms and I want them to grow toguether in the same container so that in time they will grow fussed toguether. Will it happen? And which do I choose between potting soil and cactus mix? Thanks, Socorro.

If the plants are very close together they will eventually fuse together at the base. A sandy-mix soil (cactus mix) generally minimize the probability of root rot, especially compared to the peaty mixes normally used in most tropicals. Specifically, allow the soil to dry well between waterings, and if you have any doubt on whether or not to water the plant, skip it until the next week.

Best wishes with your ponytail palms!
