Hello, I purchased 6 Acoma Crapemyrtles and 2 Dwarf Burning Bushs last fall 9/22/06. I planted them the following day. This spring only one burning bush had green growth on it. Why did the other shrubs not have any green growth on them? The nursery where I bought them told me to scrape the bark of the one's that show no green growth, to see if there was green under the bark, and there was. My question is are these shrubs going to live or not? They are guaranteed for a year.. so should I wait to see what happens, or make them take them back now? Please help. Thank you! Eric Young |
If you found green tissue directly beneath the bark, the plant is still alive and should leaf out for you. Give them another month to wake up and they should show signs of new growth. If they don't leaf out by the end of May, they probably didn't live through the winter and should be replaced. Best wishes with your plants! |
