Is butterbur japonicus good for my boggy area?

Possibly. This plant does very well in consistently wet areas such as a boggy site. However, it spreads invasively and does not mix well with other plants as a result. The Missouri Botanical Garden recommends it be planted in containers to try to control the rhizomes for this reason. In my personal experience, it can become a nightmare. On the other hand, it looks terrific.
