We have a Jap Maple dwarf tree that started blooming wonderfully in March. Unfortunately, cold weather hit Charlotte and we had a few nights of frost that killed off most of the leaves. The weather is back to being warm, but the maple doesn't look as good. The leaves are either fallen off or shriveled and brown. How can we revive our favorite tree??? Thanks in advance for your help!
|This spring weather has been really hard on so many plants. Your tree will probably be fine, but it will take some time for it to regather the strength to releaf. There is rally nothing you can do to help it along except be patient and wait and see. In the meantime you could top dress with a good quality compost to give it a little TLC if you like. You could also gently remove the dead foliage one by one, although it will eventually dry up and drop off on its own. When the tree eventually releafs and you are certain it has done as much as it can, there may be some dead branch tips. These can be neatly trimmed off.|
