|I'm in zone 4 and I have a scotch broom it is very brown in spots should I cut all the brown off or should I give it more of a chance. I know it is iffy in my zone but I would like to try to keep it.|

|It sounds like winter kill to me. The good news is that brooms flower on new wood so pruning off the dead wood will not only make your broom look better, it will pave the way for development of new flowering foliage. Go ahead and prune it back.|
Best wishes with your landscape!
