|What is the best soil for tea tree roses (container tea roses) and what is the best type of container?|
|Your roses will grow best in a commercial potting soil (Miracle-Gro, Kellogg's, etc.) in pots with adequate drainage holes. You can use plastic or terra cotta pots for your roses. Terra cotta changes appearance as it ages, developing a white crusty material from mineral deposits. They also dry out faster than plastic pots. Either is acceptable from a rose's point of view. Plants in containers tend to dry out faster than the same plants growing in the soil so be sure to water thoroughly each time you water. Containerized plants are also more prone to fertilizer burn so I suggest you use a liquid fertilizer (Shultz's or Miracle-Gro) to prevent salt buildup in the soil.
Best wishes with your new roses!
