I've heard a suggestion of using Sunspray for roses. What is Sunspray? Should it be sprayed now (in winter)? How often during the summer?

Ultra-Fine Sunspray is a horticultural oil that is used on ornamentals to smother insects. Unless you have scale insects on your rose bush stems, there's not much point in using it. Horticultural oil is most often used on fruit trees to suffocate overwintering insect pests and their eggs. I'm glad you asked. There have been reports of leaf scorching on rose bushes when oil is sprayed on them. Better to err on the safe side and steer away from using oil on your roses.
