When should I prune or shape my loropetalum chinense? I planted them last year and they are 3 ft tall now. I want to shape them for a hedge?
I live in so. atlanta, Ga
Loropetalum usually blooms from late winter through spring and then sporadically through the summer. You can prune in early summer (June) to coax the plants into a hedge shape. Waiting until early summer means you can enjoy their blooms as long as possible. After pruning they probably won't bloom for a month or two.
Best wishes with your landscape!
