To save on watering the lawn, wish to replace grass with gravel/rocks. am 73 years of age and want to know easiest method to kill or replace the lawn. Do not want to use any poisoneous chemicals to kill the lawn. thanks

The easiest way is simply to cover the existing lawn with either weed barrier or plastic (I prefer weed barrier because it allows rainwater to penetrate down into the soil). Covering the existing grass with weed barrier and then gravel and not watering the area during the summer will kill out the grass - no chemicals required.
