What is the best material to build a raised veggie garden out of? Wood or concrete blocks? What type of wood is okay to use?

If you have a choice, I'd go with concrete blocks. They'll be the most permanent; you'll never have to replace them. If you decide to use wood, cedar, redwood, or hemlock would last the longest in the garden. There are also some new plastic wood timbers on the market. They have good reviews, although I don't have any experience with them.

Best wishes with your new raised bed!
