|We just moved into our new house, but the grass is spotted with empty spots of grass and weeds. The pots have different kinds of plants in them, but there are weeds all over the place and I don't know the difference between the weed and the plant. HELP!!|
|I think experience will be your best teacher as far as the potted plants go. It's difficult for me to guide you without seeing the plants, or the weeds. So, pull out anything that looks like it's a weed and leave the rest alone. Once they've grown up some and begun to flower you can pull out the things you don't like and leave the ones you like alone.
You can reseed your lawn now. Dig out the most obvious weeds, then broadcast grass seed over the entire lawn. The bare spots should be raked a little to roughen up the soil so the seeds make good contact. Then keep the lawn watered and mow it when it reaches about 3" tall. In early summer you can feed the lawn and apply a weed killer to get rid of the remaining weeds. It make take a year or two but if you keep at it, you'll eventually have an attractive landscape.
Best wishes with your new home!
