|I have a maple tree in my front yard half of it is alive and the other branches are dead. I don't know whether to tear it out or doctor it up. I tried to put fertilizer spikes in the base of it, so far nothing. Or I might need a bug spray. Not sure what to do. I'm selling my house in the fall and I need the yard to look nice. Please help.|
|Based on your description I am not able to diagnose what is wrong with your tree. It could be related to the oscillating spring temperatures damaging some of the new growth or buds, or it might be a disease or insect problem, or even possibly the result of root damage or lingering effects of drought in previous years. I would strongly suggest you consult with your Maryland extension for assistance in diagnosing the problem and then based on knowing that determine what to do for the tree. Here is their contact information:
Alternatively, you could consult on site with a professionally trained and certified arborist with experience in ornamental trees. Good luck with your maple!
