Last year I purchased a rhododendron which was flowering, but this year it had no flowers, just more green growth. It is in a container under a covered patio. Should it be in the sun or sun/shade?

How much sun your rhodie needs depends upon the type you've purchased, but a few hours of morning sun will certainly improve its blooming potential. Rhodies produce flower buds the summer before so your plant probably won't bloom this year, but if given a few hours of morning sun should develop leaf buds by summer's end. If not, give it some afternoon sunshine, as well. Eventually you'll find the correct amount of sunlight for your plant to produce flower buds without sizzling in the scorching sunshine.

Best wishes with your rhodie!
