|I have a small yard, mostly gravel with a few shrubs on a drip irrigation system. I want to create flower beds around the perimeter and want to know which would be the most efficient system,
sprinklers or drip.
|Drip systems are great water savers because you can direct the water right at the root systems of individual plants. If you want to do an entire bed with perhaps some trailing plants that will need water when they root throughout the bed, the leaky hoses available in the garden center might be an alternative. These are rubber hoses with tiny holes punched in them. They weep or leak minute amounts of water over a large area. You can snake these hoses through your bed and then lightly cover them with mulch material (to hide them until your plants grow large enough to cover them).
Best wishes with your new flower beds!
