what type of soil to use when planting a bed of catus on the ground with pebble rocks? also what side of the home is best to plant them without any shade. and what kind of plants are recommended to use outdoors and annually. thank you.

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Cactus like a soil that drains well. So if you have a clay adding some sand to build up a raised planting area is a good idea. Otherwise your soil is probably fine. The plants like sun so western or southern sides of the home are usually best. Your local County Extension Office can provide information and assistance on types of plants that are best suited to your area. Their contact info is:
