|I want to help my mother with building up her yard with plants that provide color and body.
Can you give me a small list of various plants (flowering and green) that would grow well in a zone 7 area. The yard area gets part day sun and minimal water.
|Since you have specified zone 7 I am assuming you do not mean plants for your area which by zip code is located in the colder part of zone 6 (and if in a cold, exposed or windy site could actually be as cold as zone 5). Some fairly adaptable plants for zone 7 would include perennials such as daylily (Hemerocallis), purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), assorted sedums, baptisia, and border phlox "David." Some evergreens for zone 7 might include azalea, boxwood, and Euonymus. It is very difficult to make suggestions without knowing the exposure (light conditions meaning sun or shade and at what time of day) and general geographic area due to differences in climate, soil and other growing conditions that are included in winter hardiness zone 7. Your local nursery professionals may have other suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of the planting site and your overall design goals.|
