Fungus growing on mulch is a natural part of the decay process and does not harm your plants, so this is mainly a cosmetic issue. The fungus will disappear when conditions are no longer favorable to it, very often it is a seasonal appearance. Sometimes lifting off the surface layer and raking the mulch will disturb it enough to stop it, along with keeping the surface dry. Also, once the particular wood or other material such as a dead underground root that it is growing on is no longer available, the fungus will stop on its own.
