I am a new gardener. I planned my garden in rows with my cucumbers, squash, zuchinni, watermelon, & cantaloupe, all in the same rows. I was told that I should not do this, that they would all taste like the cukes. Is this something I need to be concernedabout?

All of the vegetables you harvest from you garden will look and taste the way they're supposed to, even though they'll probably be cross-pollinated by visiting insects. The problem will come with next year's crop, if you try to save the seedsand plant them. Everything that's been cross-pollinated will turn out looking a little like both parents. Go ahead with your garden plans, just be sure to purchase fresh seed for next year's garden.
