|Is it feasable to grow a lawn this time of year in the Palm Coast/St Augustine area of Florida. I have just removed/pulled out the front lawn due to chinch bug, and treated the dirt w/weed killer and an insectiside. If seeding is feasable, whats my next step? Sod is an option I know, but too pricey at the moment. Thank you.|
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
The types of turf adapted to your area are established primarily by sod rather than seed. You can cut the sod into strips and plant them about a foot apart to make the cost stretch a lot farther. The only turf that is seeded for your area is semidwarf bermudagrass.
These following web sites provide more info on establishing a lawn, including useful "how-to" details.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
