Once the water has stained the wood, there's no way to remove the stain. You can, however, use a soild stain, which will cover the water marks. Oil based soild stains are longer lasting than water based stains, but both will have to be reapplied every few years. Staining is best done when temperatures are between 50 and 80 degrees and the area is shaded from direct sunshine. Best wishes with your project!
