|When is the best time to start California Wonder pepper seeds indoors? Also, are there any special techniques to doing this?|
|Sweet peppers take 10-15 days to germinate and about 8 weeks to grow to transplant size. They should go outdoors about two weeks after your last frost, when the air and soil temperatures have warmed up. Pepper seeds germinate best in warm temperatures (80F-85F) so supply some bottom heat to your seeding trays. Alternately, you could put the trays on top of the refrigerator where the temperature stays relatively warm. Plant the seeds in moistened potting or seed starting mix, barely cover them with mix, and put plastic wrap over the trays to help retain moisture. When the seeds have sprouted, remove the plastic and place the trays under a source of bright light. Lights should be on for 14-16 hours each day and turned off at night.
Enjoy your peppers!
