How to build a playground? - Knowledgebase Question

We just purchased the Step 2 Climber from Home Depot and were going to put it in our small back yard, but want to make a safe/easy surface for our childrens' safety and easy maintenence. What would you suggest putting down under the climber? Right now we have the entire area tilled up, so it is just topsoil and weeds. We are not wanting grass, but we want something they can be barefoot on. Thanks!

Brittney,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Some possibilities are coarse sand and fine textured (not large chunks) composted mulch.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
