i just bought some gladiolus, dahlias,and lilies coz the store is selling them for 50%off...but i don't know if it is too late for planting them. where do you think is the best place to plant them, in a container or on the ground?

You can still plant these if they are in good condition meaning firm, not moldy or soft, no bad odor. (The lilies are the more likely to have deteriorated during storage, lilies do not keep well.) All of these need a sunny spot with well drained soil. The dahlias also do better in rich soil. I would plant them in the ground. (If the dahlias are a smaller growing variety, under a foot tall, you could plant them in containers.) Plan on lifting the glads and dahlias in the fall if you want to keep them for next year. Most lilies should be winter hardy in your area. Enjoy!
