I planted rhubarb last year. All is good.
But now I noticed that the stem shoots up and it seem as if it went to seed.
Well, I cut the stem off near the base, just above where the leaves are growing.
Is this the correct thing to do? Is this a sign of malnurishment? Please tell me.
Appreicate it Mary

It sounds like you did the right thing. Rhubarb naturally flowers as the weather turns warmer. Cut the flower stem off short to conserve the plant's energy. Keep the plant mulched with organic mulch, water during dry spells, topdress with compost, and look for it to come back bigger and better next year.
