After frost, dig the dahlias and cut the stems off at about four inches. Shake off the soil and air dry for a few days at room temperature. Then pack in dry shavings, peat moss or perlite in a cardboard box. Layer them so they do not touch each other. The storage temperature should be about 40 degrees; do not let them freeze.

After frost, trim off the foliage and dig up the gladiolus corms. You can save all of them or just the larger ones (small ones may not bloom next year). Shake off the dirt and air dry for a few days, then store in mesh bags or paper bags in a dark, cool, dry place. Do not let them freeze.
