I received a lovely white Azalea tree for Mothers Day.

It depends upon the type of azalea (some are sun tolerant, others are not) but you'd be safest planting it in well amended soil (compost, peat moss, etc.) in a spot that gets morning sun and afternoon shade. Feed with an acidified fertilizer (Miracle-Gro is one such type fertilizer) and water deeply once or twice a week, depending upon weather. You can lightly prune the plant after it has finished blooming and it will produce new shoots on which next year's flower buds will develop over the summer months. Enjoy your lovely azalea tree!
