|Generally speaking, according to modern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies you would not apply any form of insect control unless there is a specific problem that needs to be treated. Keep an eye on your plantings and if you see a problem, identify the specific pest and then treat accordingly. Your local county extension or professionally trained nurseryman should be able to help you identify any pests and help determine what needs to be done.
